In cooperation with your hosting company of choice we will assist with the domain registration and site configuration. 

Domain registration requires you to choose an address for your site. Like QuarterShark.com. It is registered and will be the point from which you will be doing business. Regardless if you move from one hosting company to another, this address will always be pointing to your website.

Configuration refers to the setup of the scripting and database setup that will be required to make all work well on your site. If there is server side scripting on your site, you will need assistance in this regard. We take care of that for you, testing your website online after it was configured to ensure all is well and works flawlessly.

 

The cost of hosting

When we refer to hosting we assume that the hosting company will conform to certain basic criteria, which we outline below. 

Obviously you will find hosting for R5 per month and maybe even less. The question you need to ask yourself is: “what exactly do I get for R5 per month?”

• Support PHP + MySql (In a relatively unrestricted fashion) alternatively ASP and related database architectures
• Support Flash
• Support FTP uploading and access
• Good overall server bandwidth capabilities
• Good, accurate stats keeping– Cpanel’s AWStats and the like would be good.

 

Hosting typically can cost anything from R100 per month upwards into the thousands depending on client requirements. For the most part the cost should not exceed R400 per month, even if you have a rather busy website with lots of traffic.
